The Explosion

The Explosion

The Explosion is the main reason WHY the Challenger is remembered. It is remembered as NASA's worst space tragedy of all time.

The Explosion of the Challenger Space Shuttle happened on January the 28th, in the year 1986. It ended up killing seven people including the world's "supposed to be" first teacher in space, Christa McAuliffe.

When the Challenger exploded, both the left and right solid rocket boosters continued to fly around, (as seen in this picture) until eventually they were shot down.

The link to the left will bring you to a video on YouTube. The video shows the Left Side Body Panel remains of the Challenger Space Shuttle.
